When they’re not making high-end handbags and designer gowns, the famed fashion house, Dolce & Gabbana is throwing a $400 hat into the ring of luxury living.
Last month, demolition began at 888 Brickell Avenue in Miami, paving the way for what will become the tallest residential building in the city’s financial district. The 90-story tower, aptly named 888 Brickell by Dolce & Gabbana, will feature interiors, furnishings and aesthetic direction of both the residences and common spaces fully designed by the fashion label.
A new staple for luxury-living in Brickell
888 Brickell is set to include 259 fully-furnished residences, an exclusive members-only club, full-service spa, three undisclosed gourmet restaurants and 4000 square feet of pool deck with cabanas and extensive views of Biscayne Bay.
Other specialty amenities include a fully-equipped fitness center, golf simulator and cold and hot plunge pools. The grand lobby will house two bars, as well as a demo kitchen with private dining facilities, theater space, billiards tables and a wine cellar.
Units will include one to four bedrooms and initial asking prices will begin at $2.2 million, with the most expensive unit being the 3-story penthouse asking $88 million. Construction on the tower is estimated to be complete by 2029.
Designers meet developers
The luxury residence is being developed by Micheal Stern and his New-York based firm, JDS Development Group. Along with 888 Brickell, the company is responsible for the development of other high-profile South Florida projects, including the Monad Terrace residences in Miami Beach.
Sieger Suarez Architects will be at the helm of the building’s architectural design, where they’ll be working with Studio Sofield, the mavens behind Manhattan’s 111 West 57th Street ultra-luxury style.
Fashion houses to fashion & houses
888 Brickell may be Dolce & Gabbana’s first foray into the world of luxury real estate, but they aren’t the only fashion house to build luxury homes in the 305.
Fendi, another renowned Italian fashion label, opened their first branded residences in Miami’s Surfside District all the way back in 2016. The resort style building has nearly identical amenities to 888 Brickell, though the 12-story tower is much smaller in comparison. Armani followed suit in 2019 with the addition of their Residences by Armani/Casa, an extension of their coveted homeware division. The 56-story building also overlooks Biscayne Bay and is situated in Sunny Isles.
Upon the completion of 888 Brickell, Dolce & Gabbana will lay claim as the first and only fashion label with a branded residence in Brickell.
