Searching for the perfect place to enter the Upside Down? Harness your telekinetic powers? Or simply ring in the new season of Stranger Things? Look no further than the infamous property that’s home to Henry Creel – a.k.a the supernatural villain Vecna – in Netflix’s smash hit series.
Located at 906 E 2nd Avenue in Rome, Georgia, the historic residence was last sold five months after the premier of the show’s fourth season in December 2022. Initially hitting the market in November of the same year, the home was acquired for $1.6 million by an undisclosed buyer (could it be a top-secret government official like Matthew Modine’s Dr. Martin Brenner?).
Jeb Arp and Mimi Richards of Toles, Temple & Wright, Inc. repped the property upon its sale.

All about the ominous abode
Originally built in 1882, the Gothic Victorian style home was commissioned for Rome native Colonel Hamilton Yancy.
Complete with seven bedrooms and six full bathrooms, it also includes an inlaid wood outdoor foyer, a formal dining room (the site where Vecna’s violent telekinetic abilities were first revealed), an adjoining parlor and a spacious living room.
The recently renovated kitchen is far from the gooey, decrypted and all-around terrifying Upside Down – as it features brand new appliances, custom cabinetry, a 15-foot black marble island, along with both a walk-in and butler’s pantry.
Topped off with an in-law suite adjacent to the main residence, it’s no surprise that the home only spent mere weeks on the market before it was purchased in 2022. Prior to its Stranger Things fame, it functioned as a bed & breakfast called the Claremont House from 2003 to 2019.
From quaint bed & breakfast to internationally recognized
Although the home itself hasn’t been plagued by otherworldly creatures like Vecna, the charming local property is now instantly recognizable to Stranger Things fans across the world.
It was first introduced in the fourth season of the acclaimed series as a refuge for the Creel family and their outcast son Henry who harbors telekinetic powers. Exterior shots of the home are seen during multiple flashbacks showcasing Henry’s rise from a shy child to murderous villain who eventually kills his mother and sister upon using his mind-bending powers.
The Victorian style exterior is also seen various times in the fictional Hawkins, Indiana’s notorious parallel universe – otherwise known as the Upside Down.
In December of 2023, Stranger Things: The First Shadow premiered on London’s West End, before coming to Broadway’s Marquis Theater last April. The stage play expands upon Henry Creel / Vecna’s villainous origins with the Creel house at the center of the production.

Promotional materials for both the play and television show have now solidified the famous home as a figment of the franchise.
Famous homes and future value
Despite the Vecna house being currently off the market – who’s to say it won’t be sold in the near future. In which case, the question still remains: will its role in Stranger Things increase the value?
A 2021 study from Uswitch.com, reported that famous homes featured in iconic films/television shows did see significant increases in property value. For instance, the Dursley residence from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone saw its value rise by 91.54%. The Long Beach home from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off also saw a significant increase in value, rising to 110.56%.
The success of Stranger Things coupled with the excitement leading up to its highly anticipated series finale – it’s safe to say the Vecna House won’t be losing value anytime soon.
