The direct heir to the SC Johnson fortune, Winnie Johnson Marquart, has sold her home in Palm Beach for $16.7 million.
The selling of the residency
Marquart sold 449 Australian Ave. through Southern Mark LLC, the company that previously owned the house since March 2024, when they paid a recorded $15.9 million.
Marquart purchased a landmarked house known as Villa Banyan at 217 Clarke Ave for $30 million back in September with her rock and roll music producer husband, Michael Marquart.
New homeowners of the residency
Victor K and Julia Springer Tolkan, managing partners at Washington D.C.-based Penzance Assets purchased the house on Australian Ave. In June they sold a vacant lot at 130 Seaspray Ave. for $9.25 million in Palm Beach.
The four-bedroom house on Australian Ave has 4,424 square feet of living space. Agent Shelly Newman of the Corcoran Group had the house listed as furnished at $16.95 million.
The home features a living room marveling at a coffered ceiling, an elaborate kitchen, and a second-floor master suite with a view of the swimming pool. In the master suite, dual bathrooms and a pair of closets can be discovered. There is also a wet bar and an elevator.
Original house aspects
The house was originally developed on speculation by Palm Beach real estate investor Richard Cushing True of Cushing Investments LLC.
The home was purchased by the Marquart company in an off-market sale from Edward J. Robinson, who purchased the residence for $3.3 million in the late 1990s. The house was built in 1924 with 9,634 square feet of living.
Winnie Marquart is president and trustee of the Johnson Family Foundation, as her great-great grandfather is S.C. Johnson. Her great-great grandfather founded the Wisconsin-based company that produces household products including Windex, Pledge, Ziploc and pesticides.
