Emma Stone is living in her own “La La Land” after closing the sale of her newly renovated Austin mansion.
Stone and her husband, filmmaker Dave McCary, spent three years reimagining the 1940s estate This property is one of many homes in Stone’s real estate portfolio.
Inside the vintage mansion
The 10,000 square foot property contains a five-bedroom main house and a two-bedroom guest house, explained the Wall Street Journal. It boasts 1.25 acres that include a pool, hot-tub, entertainment space and luscious greenery. Despite the open floor plan, Koch Construction worked to retain as much history as possible.
Realtor.com noted “a screened porch, a solarium, an outdoor kitchen, an office, a dining room, and a huge kitchen, complete with a breakfast bar for casual dining,” all combining a distinctively modern feel with the detailed softness of a pre-war home.
Dark-stained wooden boards line the steep stairs, and continue up the wall toward the high ceilings. Burgundy brick lays on the bottom half of the master bathroom’s walls, contrasting with the creamy white paint above it.
Light brick laid in a herringbone pattern brightens the sunroom, which leads to the whimsically landscaped backyard, complete with a pool.
Renovation timeline
After having their first child, the couple decided to buy the Austin property to use as their primary residence in 2021. They spent three years modernizing the interior,. However, shortly after renovations began, the couple decided that it makes more sense for them to live in New York due to both of their jobs being primarily located there, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The original value of the home is unknown due Texas’ non-disclosure laws; however, the listing price of the mansion was $23.5 million. The couple has accepted an offer on the property, but it is unknown whether they accepted the asking price or a lower negotiation.
